embraces the dark,
drowns in the sulking

blues
common bedfellows
moaning the night

wearing night,
sleeps not alone with
moody blues

an empty star soon
steals the night

Ray Charles - Blues before Sunrise
The light from the empty star really gave me pause -- it's hopeful but not hopeful in the same moment. And then I heard the last line of the song -- and ouch - - was that the empty star's blinding light? Ouch, ouch.
ReplyDeleteDrowning in our blues -- moaning the world around -- a Sunday night, indeed ....
Thanks so much for taking the time to get into this one...if you look at the one on my "other" blog, I combined the two last prompts but added a more personal narrative. You might enjoy it.
DeleteVery nicely done!
ReplyDeleteThanks you, I'm pleased you enjoyed it.
DeleteThese are all very interesting - I like the light touch of the last one.
ReplyDeleteThank you...that was giving hope when the sun does rise.
DeleteThere was a band called 'moody blues' a while back. Very nice.

DeleteBlinding glows and empty stars...the blues!
ReplyDeleteBlues Trombonist
Indeed all climbing up those lovely stairs on your blog for the late night gig:)
DeleteEmbracing the dark - drowns in the sulking - blues ... sounds like a heavy moment indeed ... the blues mean to me melancholy and with this mix - and the choice of the song - wearing night ....
ReplyDeleteHours of the some "blues" is like watching 2 or 3 tear jerker movies and releasing the toxins:)
